about me

me

On my old website, I pretty much tried to sum up my life, as if by visiting my page and reading a little bit about me all of you in the big, wide web would be able to feel as if you actually knew me. Well, that isn't gonna happen here. As you will find out as you surf this site, I am rather ecclectic, and this little exercise in interest-collecting barely scratches the surface. You're not going to be able to get very far into me no matter how you try; I would be rather surprised if any of you know me, since I do not have a clue who I am myself. =)

Now that we've settled that little bit of business, here's a brief introduction. My name's Sara. I'm 22 years old, and a recent graduate of Georgetown University. I majored in Government with a Political Theory concentration and History. I graduated on May 24th after being inducted into Phi Beta Kappa.

I'm not really sure where I would qualify as being from. I was born in Michigan, lived in Hawaii for quite a while, attended college in Washington DC, lived across the bridge in Virginia, and studied for a while in Fiesole, a little town outside of Florence, Italy. I generally consider Hawaii home, though I have spent nearly as much time in the DC metro area as I spent in Hawaii, but now, after the events of September 11th, I find myself drawn back to DC, leading me to wonder if I somehow became a Washingtonian over the past four years. I miss that city, and it feels like it is mine and I might just belong there. It doesn't really matter, I suppose. I've wandered around a lot so far, and I fully intend on continuing to do so for as long as possible. I'm now living in Chicago, where I am a part of Teach for America, an Americorps organization that places college grads as teachers in innercity schools. I'm teaching 9th grade social studies on the south side of the city.

As far as hobbies go, I'm into music. I'm a soprano, and I sang with the Concert Choir at my university. I've done some solos and things; I can be pretty damn loud when I want to be. I love astronomy, and was one of the officers of the Astronomy Club at Georgetown. I write quite a bit, but not as much as I roleplay, which is pretty much a daily occurance. There are a few movies that I'm addicted to, and I'm willing to admit that I have crushes on boys who don't even exist. :-/ C'est la vie!

Suffice to say, I am a highly proficient dabbler. I dabble in photography, I dabble in web design, I dabble in politics, I dabble in astronomy, I dabble in writing, I dabble in fantasy... and I'm sure you get the point by now. I think I may actually end up pursuing a Ph.D. in Political Philosophy; Dr. Sara has a nice ring to it.

Enjoy the site, and be as good to one another as is possible while still kicking ass.

Sara
